Otely is a concept for a luxury travel platform designed to connect discerning travelers with unique, high-end properties. The goal was to move beyond the mass-market feel of typical booking sites and design an experience of “effortless sophistication” for both guests and hosts.
Two Sides of One Marketplace
It’s a full, responsive hospitality website with desktop and mobile versions, a booking flow, a flow for listing a property and a host dashboard to control listings, review guests’ requests and track revenue. The key challenges we tackled:
- Designing for a complex, two-sided marketplace of guests and hosts.
- Building trust through a transparent and elegant UI.
- Creating a seamless, responsive booking flow for both desktop and mobile.
- Developing a powerful, data-driven dashboard for hosts to manage their business.
Guests: Clarity, Simplicity and Trust
For Otely’s guests, we prioritized clarity, simplicity and trust. Full-screen mobile search means no clutter and no distractions. Trust tags, offer callouts and a welcoming touch help users feel at home before they even book. Every decision was made to keep the guest’s journey smooth, transparent and stress-free.

Hosts: Trust and Speed
Designing for hosts means designing for trust and speed.
The booking request interface surfaces only the essentials, builds trust with ID and payment verification, and reduces decision time dramatically. Minimalism isn’t about less information — it’s about the right information.
One Story, Told in Episodes
The case study follows one story: a user signs in, searches for a property and reserves it; the host gets a notification and sees the cover letter; they can chat with each other; the host confirms or declines, and the user receives the notification. I told it in episodes. In the host’s response:
- Hosts receive instant booking notifications.
- Key details (guest, dates, payment) are summarized in one view.
- One-click “Accept” keeps the workflow fast.
- Messaging closes the loop with a warm, human touch.
The result: less friction for the host, more confidence for the traveler.

Designing Otely wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about creating a seamless host journey. From the first tap on the screen to the last click before booking, every detail was crafted to feel effortless, warm and human. Because great design should feel like hospitality itself.
Otely was a team project with Abdulrhman Kasem, Nourhan Ayman and Mahmoud Zanaty.
